At Roots Early Learning Center, we believe children learn best through play, exploration, and meaningful relationships. Our classrooms are designed to feel calm, nurturing, and engaging, where children feel safe to explore, build confidence, and develop a love of learning.

Our play-based, child-centered approach is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy. Our teachers thoughtfully plan experiences based on each child’s interests, developmental stage, and natural curiosity. Through hands-on exploration, creativity, and guided learning, children build strong social, emotional, and cognitive foundations that support them far beyond their early years.

    6 weeks – 15 months

    Our infant room focuses on building trust, security, and connection while following each child’s individual routine.

  • Oak Room

    Toddlers
    16 months – 2.5 years

    Toddlers learn through movement, sensory play, and early social experiences.

  • Maple Room

    Preschoolers
    Two’s & Three’s

    Children develop independence, friendships, and early problem-solving skills through play.

Meet the Director

Hi, I’m Azra Hodzic, owner of Roots Early Learning Center and West Town Daycare. For the past 13 years, I’ve been honored to serve families in the Humboldt Park and West Town communities. As an educator dedicated to play-based learning, I’m passionate about creating spaces where children are seen, heard, and celebrated. My vision for Roots is to extend the strong foundation we’ve built at West Town, while offering more families access to a supportive and inspiring early learning experience.
